Story

Lào Cai is a mountainous province where ethnic minorities comprise 70% of the total population of 600,000. Among these, there are 1,007 particularly disadvantaged villages. Despite facing numerous challenges in their daily lives, the people of Lào Cai greatly emphasize education. Evidence of this can be seen in the many bilingual Hmong-Vietnamese schools in the province and the support from parents who helped rebuild schools after landslides. This dedication has inspired the Dream Library to come to Lào Cai, aiming to contribute in a small way to promoting and creating conditions for students to access knowledge easily and with inspiration.

Parents Rebuild Schools for Their Children After Farming Hours

Through an introduction from the Fatherland Front, Dream Library learned that Si Ma Cai and Bat Xat are two border districts in Lao Cai that still face significant difficulties and are rarely reached by social projects due to their remote locations. These areas particularly struggle with educational infrastructure, including limited classrooms, a lack of modern teaching equipment, and insufficient textbooks, all of which affect the students' learning and development. With the rugged mountainous terrain, many students must walk for hours on rough and dangerous paths to reach school.

Despite these challenges, thanks to the dedicated efforts of teachers and the perseverance of the students and their parents, the primary school attendance rate has reached 98%.

With the hope of motivating these students to attend school every day and providing teachers with additional Vietnamese language resources for the children, Dream Library commits to joining forces with the community to build two fully furnished creative art libraries. These libraries will be stocked with thousands of carefully selected, engaging books, bringing a new reading culture experience to the poor schools in Si Ma Cai and Bat Xat districts, Lao Cai province.

Books are one of the key elements in building and developing learning abilities in children during their early stages. The pages of books contain dream stories that transport children to magical lands where they are free to imagine their worlds and indirectly view the vibrant world through books, fostering their creativity.
